Nicole Miyahara is an ethnographic filmmaker living in Los Angeles who grew up in the Silicon Valley. She graduated with her Masters in Visual Anthropology from the University of Southern California and studied Anthropology as an Undergraduate.
It was fortuitous the night she went to Hamburger Mary's in Long Beach to have dinner and see a drag queen show, like many she had never heard of drag kings. Instead, she discovered the talented male illusionists who would become the topic of her master’s thesis film, The Making of a King.
Nicole was a 2013-2014 Armed With A Camera Fellow through Visual Communications. Through the fellowship she made TO SIT WITH HER which premiered at the 2014 Los Angeles Asian American Film Festival. She loves to travel and recently returned from a trip to Colombia with her mom.
